UPREGULATION

Description:

Upregulation refers to the process by which a cell increases the number of receptors or the sensitivity of existing receptors to a particular substance, usually a hormone or neurotransmitter. It often occurs in response to low levels of the substance in order to enhance the cell's responsiveness.
