International Date Line

Definition:

The International Date Line is an imaginary line that runs from the North Pole to the South Pole, mostly following the 180° longitude line. It serves as the demarcation line where each new day begins.

Sense 1: Geography. The theoretical line that separates two consecutive calendar days.

Sense 2: Timekeeping. The line that separates the Western Hemisphere, where the time zone is earlier, from the Eastern Hemisphere, where the time zone is later.
