Diploidy

Description

Diploidy is a genetic condition where an organism possesses two complete sets of chromosomes, one from each parent. In this state, an individual has two copies of each gene, one from each parent, resulting in a total of two alleles. It is the opposite of haploidy, which refers to having only one set of chromosomes.
